Two Hole Seed Bead Patterns (3/16/2015)
I don’t know about you, but I still can’t get enough of all the two-hole and now four-hole beads!! Although it is starting to make my head spin because I can’t buy everything. I try to just buy a few base colors (black, white, gold, silver, bronze, gray…) when a new bead comes out so I have something to start with and it’s easy to match.

The unusual placement of the holes of the bead makes it challenging to design with, but at the same time it opens up more possibilities for unusual designs… I came up with two bracelet designs with this bead, one of them is the Dragon Tail bracelet – a unisex bracelet design. You can combine the Tango beads with seed beads only for a bracelet for men, or use sparkling Swarovski crystals for the feminine version of the bracelet.

These bracelets feature the new 2-hole Czech twin beads, and they also work well with SuperDuo beads too. They’re related to my Squareflake Earrings pattern, but instead of using the 4-fold symmetry seen in the earrings, they use the 6-fold symmetry seen in real snowflakes. These bracelets also use drop-shaped seed beads (either 3 mm magatamas or 2.8 mm drop beads) instead of rivoli crystals, as the sharp rivoli crystals can get caught on sleeves quite easily when used in a bracelet.

First, the one that I’m most proud of, is my Katya bracelet. I love the new Czech Twin beads, and I love the two-hole freshwater pearls that were a gift from Beki Haley at Whimbeads, but I had absolutely no idea what to do with either of them. Then I got to thinking about how I might be able to alternate Twins and pearls and come up with a funky netted collar.
