Seed Bead Bracelet Patterns (3/18/2015)

2015 March 18

It’s seed bead bracelet day! OK, what day isn’t? I love making bracelets for gifts, but they are trickier to size than a necklace or earrings. And they aren’t easy to make adjustable either. But, they don’t take as long as a necklace and they are more substantial than earrings. Just measure your “giftees” and save them for future surprises.

There’s nothing much to say… I was in class, doodling and randomly came up with the idea of making this bracelet. I made the bracelet in my head (like I always do!) and made 1 as soon as I came home. It was so easy to make, turned out pretty nice so I had to share the tutorial. Anyways, grab the materials and go make one, it won’t take much time and you’ll love it.

I just released a new tutorial for that explains how to bead weave a bracelet and earrings with one size of seed bead, round or bicone beads, and thread. No fancy shapes required! The Daisy Chain Cable is solid and somewhat flexible. Its cross section is oval, measuring 7 mm by 8 mm when woven with size 11° seed beads. You can weave it as long as you want, and you can also scale it up or down with other sizes of beads.

I looked for the original pattern on beadsmagic.com, where it was first published, but I could no longer find it. I therefore tried to figure out how to make this little beauty, and here is my interpretation of the pattern. I’m sorry it is not very detailed and professional, but since the creation is not mine, I don’t have many pictures and I do not want to take possession of an idea that was not mine.

Czech “Silky” 2-hole beads are 6x6mm in size, similar to the CzechMates Tile beads, but the two parallel holes are on the diagonal, with a raised bevel on the top of each bead that runs opposite of the diagonal thread path. The back side of the bead is flat so make sure the beveled side is facing front if you want all the bevels on one side and the flat sides on the other.

This is a pattern for the closure I did with the Round Lace Bracelet pattern. I had several requests so I thought I would share how to make it. You can use this closure with any bracelet or necklace pattern too. I like making my closures with beads to match. That way you do not need to run out to the store to buy a clasp and you will always have something at home to match what you are making.
