Today I have some bead embroidery tutorials and inspiration. I’m particularly excited about the Bezel Effects Pendant. I bought several colors of Bezel Effects several months ago and have found absolutely no time to play with it. Now I have the inspiration to get to it. Try something new!

This bead embroidered pendant started off its life as part of a different project. I originally intended it for the centerpiece of a bracelet made from antique hinges. When it turned out to be too big, and not really suited style-wise in any case, I let it sit on the table until I decided what to use it for instead.

I returned to an artwork that I love, in the past few weeks – bead embroidery. Fashioned in the style of traditional swallow tattoos – a tattoo favorite of old-time sailors, symbolizing 5,000 nautical miles journeyed. Bead Embroidery is like painting with beads. Bead Embroidery Wall Art is a liberating way to employ colours, techniques, shapes, and stitches. And you end up with something pretty and usable that you can use to brighten your heart and home. I particularly love abstract art so I think that something abstract and bright will pepper my endeavours here.

The S-word results in empty bread and milk shelves in my neck of the woods – to say we don’t deal well with snow in the South is an understatement. But that doesn’t mean we don’t like watching snowflakes fall – as long as they melt as soon as they hit the ground. Over at Craftside, check out a tutorial for a bead embroidery snowflake that will be simple to create and add to ornaments or other crafts.

Nearly anything that can be sewn or glued is fair game for bead embroidery: from sequins and cabochons, to ribbon and thrift store treasures. Bead embroidery is also one of the only techniques that moves seamlessly from jewelry to non-wearable designs, décor and sculpture. It is the technique for imaginative beaders.
