Besides, with all the snow and cold we’ve had, it still kind of feels like Christmas. Why not get started now so you have a bunch ready? They make great small gifts or you can keep them on hand for last minute gifts. Everyone appreciates handmade a gift. And these are all especially easy and cheap. This beaded ornament cover is a fairly easy way to spice up your ornament and it would be a great gift for someone special. I like a project that looks complex but can easily be created in one sitting. Some beaded ornament covers are so complex – they must take days to accomplish. So if you are like me and like some instant gratification, this project is for you!

This is hands down one of the easiest DIY ornaments you can make this Christmas. I love the look of the shiny string of beads but wanted to take a different approach to just wrapping it around or draping it on the Christmas tree. These take minutes to make an the effect is quite pleasing and will cost you next to nothing while covering your Christmas tree. Choose any coloured beads you like, you will find them in the Christmas section at dollar stores everywhere.

First up…the Beaded Ornament. Inspired by the ornaments at Walmart, we headed to the craft department for supplies… Clear plastic ornaments, Hot glue gun, Glass beads – we used 2 different styles and sizes in white, Epsom salt to fill the ornament – you could also use the beads, Funnel to fill the ornament.

I love creating Christmas ornaments and this month I’ve had a great deal of fun building geometric shapes with bugle beads – icosidodecahedrahns to be precise. They’re spheres made up of triangles and pentagons. Debby’s design that she taught at the bead retreat used smaller bugle beads and had a 12mm bead in the center for stability, but I wanted to see what I could do working with some bugles from my stash without a central bead.
I figured out a way to make pretty beaded tree ornaments from the scads of resin cabochons I’ve made. Using a simple netting stitch, all odd count, two color…
Thanks everyone for watching. I hope you make this simple wreath. More Christmas ornaments to come.
