Free Brick Stitch Seed Bead Patterns (2/28/2014)
Brick stitch used to be one of most used stitches, but seems to have fallen by the wayside in favor of Peyote, Right Angle Weave and Ndebele (Herringbone) stitches. Many American Indian bead work pieces you see, including those fabulous dangling earrings with all the fringe, are made using Brick stitch. The final product of Brick stitch looks almost identical to Peyote stitch, but it’s worked in a whole different way. I think brick stitch increases and decreases are much easier than in Peyote. Give it a try today!

Brick stitch, a popular beading technique, resembles the peyote beading in procedure; but unlike the latter, the beading columns produced by brick stitch are turned sideways. It is named after the pattern of the off-set bead rows that resemble a brick wall.
