I have designed many kumihimo braids this year using different stringing materials and fibers. My husband is always quite interested in the results and it occurred to me that I should try and make a kumihimo braid that he might wear. This braid uses lots of different leathers and our traditional black rattail.

My tips for stringing beads on C-Lon Tex 400: My “go-to” beads are 8/0 and 6/0 Toho or Miyuki seed beads or 4×7 Magatamas. When I am braiding with lots of beads, I use C-Lon Tex 400. I like C-Lon Tex 400 because it braids nicely with beads and is also a great “stand alone” braid.

Halloween is just around the corner so the time has come to get busy with Halloween “stuff” ! I got in the mood yesterday to work Kumihimo so out came my Marudai and disc. This fun bracelet is one of the things I put together. This was made on the disc.

I have read about this Japanese art of braid making (Kumihimo literally means ‘gathered threads’) I have never actually tried it and so I spent several nervous days panicking about what kind of misshapen rabbit I might be able to pull out of my hat.
