Betty asks…

How do I clean my Swarovski crystal necklace (small triangular beads)? It has gotten quite dull?

I bought it 3 years ago, and it does not sparkle anymore like it used to. The beads are quite small, probably 3mm in length.

BeadGal answers:

I clean mine with Windex.

Jenny asks…

Does anyone know where to find Swarovski Crystal Beads in Singapore that is cheap and pretty?

It is best that it is available in shops.

BeadGal answers:

I don’t know where in Singapore, but you could always order them from eBay. They are really cheap and you can find a whole bunch of varieties and colors. Just make an eBay account if you do not already have one. It is free and easy to do. Then type Swarovski Crystals in theie search engine.

Helen asks…

How can I tell the difference between Swarovski crystals and plastic?

Hey, I just bought a bracelet off ebay and it allegedly has a clear heart Swarovski charm and another smaller red Swarovski bead. However, I do not know how to make sure that they truly are Swarovski crystal and not plastic. So, does anyone know any methods of checking it (without damaging the bracelet or seeking professional advice?) The Heart is described to be about 3/4 of an inch.

BeadGal answers:

I was told this as one way to check but I am not 100% sure how accurate it is – but having seen the method used – you will see a noticeable difference.

Get a flashlight and shine it through the crystal – if it is true crystal you will get a crisp clear ‘rainbow’ effect of colors on a wall/ceiling. If it is plastic, the colors will be noticeably less clear and will appear ‘smudged’

Give it a go – if you have another crystal – try it on those first to get an impression of what it should look like.
